Beaches worth visiting

Alonaki Bay
is a natural base just 5 km away. It has access by a road surrounded by pine trees. The beach is famous for the excellent purity of the water. A characteristic point is the rock that dominates in the middle of the bay and its crystal clear blue-green waters.

Skala Bay  
is just 5 km away. It is a small cove with fine sand and shallow water. The rocks with the pines that surround it give a very beautiful spectacle.

The Bay of Odysseus (Kerentza)
It is located 5 km away. It is an open bay with a sandy beach and shallow waters. There is also a small port for boats. According to mythology, Odysseus anchored there where the entrance to Hades was located. Odysseus entered Hades where he met the seer Teiresias, who told him that one day he will arrive at Ithaca.

Parga
is a traditional settlement, built amphitheatrically, with cosmopolitan character and rare beauty, which is located at a distance of only 25 km away.  In the summer months, boats organize daily excursions to Paxoi and Corfu.

Preveza
is a place with a rich history. The capital of the homonymous prefecture, built at the entrance of the Amvrakikos gulf. It reminds strongly an island, as it is a picturesque seaside town with a port, just 30 km away. You can take a walk by the sea, wander the alleys and enjoy the amazing delicacies offered by the ouzo bars of the city.

The riverAcheron 
is intertwined with the passage of the souls of dead people to the world of Hades. The peculiarity of the natural environment is an attraction for tourists looking for activities, such as nature trails along the river to the springs of Acheron, kayaks, canoes and riding a horse.

Paxos ant Antipaxos
are islands in the Ionian Sea. They are located at a distance of 8 miles from the western coasts. The capital of Paxos is the picturesque Gaios, which is physically protected by two islands, Panagia and Agios Nikolaos. Other settlements of Paxos are Lakka and Longos.

Sights

The Necromancer
is located in the village of Mesopotamos. It was the ancient city of Efyra, which flourished in the 5th and 6th century BC. The city became famous from its Necromancer which was the most important of antiquity. Visitors from all over the world gathered at the Necromancer and after a process of residence and initiation, they were able to communicate with their passed away people.

Zalongo – Zalongo
is the well-known historical place on the mountain with the same name, which became a symbol of sacrifice and love for freedom. In 1803, when Souli succumbed to Ali Pasha after many years of fights, 63 women with their children in their arms fell from the rock, preferring to die free rather than be enslaved to the Turkish yoke. The monument was erected there in 1961. Starting from the monastery of Agios Dimitrios, (410 steps follow up  to the Zalogo – Zalongo).

Kassopi
Capital of Kassopaia was built before the middle of the 4th century BC, at a natural fortified position (altitude of 550-650 m.), in the present village of Kamarina. The city of Kassopi flourished in the 3rd century and consisted of 10,000 inhabitants. It was destroyed in 167 BC. by the Romans and was permanently abandoned at the end of the 1st century BC.

Ancient Nikopolis
is located at the entrance of Preveza. In 31 BC, one of the greatest conflicts in ancient history took place, the famous naval battle of Aktio, between Antonios, Octavian and Cleopatra. Cleopatra was trying to maintain the independence of Egypt from Rome. In commemoration of this victory, Octavian Augustus built Nikopolis, which later has become the capital of Epirus.
